Sunday

1. There were people who lived here before us. They lived here in Hampton Roads for over 5,000 years. (Jamestown)

2. Skateboarding has been a cornerstone of culture and a source of expression here for a long time. In recent years there have been more public skateparks built in Hampton Roads. Street skateboarding remains illegal in many places throughout our region. (Portsmouth)

3. There are several well known hip hop artists from this area but slightly beneath the surface urban music is and has been bubbling throughout the land. One of my favorites... Stefan Skeeterhttp://soundcloud.com/shho/sets/shho-presents-its-been-done-by (Portsmouth)

4. There is water everywhere and we can all help to keep it clean. (Norfolk)

5. The Plaza Theater and Shopping Center in Churchland  was recently demolished to make room for  a Harris Teeter. At one point there was a donut shop, a photo store, as well as a pool hall in this shopping center.  I had a birthday at the theater when I was little and used to go there in high school. The new grocery store is in viewing distance of a Food Lion and Kroger and conveniently located near a Rite Aid and Walgreens.

6. Race relations remain a stubborn and stupid issue. (Hampton )

7. Two little letters on a big wall can be a felony charge in Virginia. With limited alternatives and a negative world view kids in Hampton Roads may turn to gangs for validation and acceptance.  (Portsmouth)

8. What seeds are we planting for our children? Will they grow up in a world without wonder? (Virginia Beach)

9. No matter where we live or what we do the sun is encouraging us to grow this spring!
